A family home in the heart of the Mornington Peninsula — Havwoods 190mm Fendi Venture European oak plank across formal living, dining, and everyday spaces
A family home in the middle of a Mornington Peninsula farm. Rolling paddocks on every side, long timber-framed windows opening to the view, rooms that move between formal entertaining and country Sunday-morning calm. The floor is what ties the two registers together.
The specification was Havwoods’ 190mm Fendi Venture plank: a warm, mid-tone European oak engineered board, 190mm wide, with the generous width and soft finish that suits a country residence. Wide enough to feel honest under the scale of the rooms, subtle enough to sit quietly beneath the furniture, art, and views that make the home what it is.
For a home on a working farm, the floor has to do more than look right on handover day. Muddy boots in from the paddock, dogs in and out through the bifolds, kitchen tables pushed back when friends arrive, seasonal humidity swings peculiar to the peninsula. The direct-stick method with a 3-in-1 adhesive and moisture barrier, over a properly-prepared substrate, gives the floor the stability to carry that kind of everyday life without drama.
Board selection favoured planks with softer colour variation, fewer hard contrasts and more tonal continuity, so the floor reads as a calm, continuous field rather than a feature. That selection discipline is what lets the interior scheme, and the farm view beyond it, do the talking. The finished project is the result of a seamless collaboration between the homeowner, Havwoods, and Mastercraft Flooring. Each held their part of the brief to the same high standard.
Honest width. Quiet tone. A floor that belongs to the view, not to itself.
